State Gestapo against Ron Paul
Tonight we held up RON PAUL for PRESIDENT banners on the overpass catching EAA traffic. I had an encounter with a State Trooper. He insisted we couldn’t hold our banner over traffic because it would be possible drivers below could think we might throw something off at them.
Noting that someone walking across could just as easily throw something over, I asked him if he could show me that law in writing. He kept avoiding my request and said if we didn’t move he’d arrest us. We decided to move 20′ over rather than be arrested. This incident with our State Gestapo confirmed to me why we were doing what we were doing. I reminded him that he wasn’t asking us to obey a law, he was making us abide by his will and he was wrong to do so. Had he asked us to leave altogether, I’d probably be in jail right now.
The local city cops never bothered the group for holding the banners over traffic, and they’ve been out every day this week.
Some clips of us are on the above short promo video, including me talking to the State KGB man (I had nothing to do with putting it together). The clip was actually just after my conversation with him and we were about to move over and the other guy with me asked the cop something.

Why not just tie the banner to the fence and walk around with your conventional signs. It doesn’t do any good to agitate cops….in my town, they are very cooperative with me.

Then they would complain we left the banner unattended so it could blow away into traffic.
We didn’t agitate any cops. He stopped to agitate us. The city cops never bothered us all week.
All we were doing was standing there (well, we waved at a few motorists who waved and beeped at us). How is THAT agitating a cop?

You have the cops name, why not file a complaint against him?

“He insisted we couldn’t hold our banner over traffic because it would be possible drivers below could think we might throw something off at them.”
Cops are dumb, but, come on. How stupid is that remark!

{{ You have the cops name, why not file a complaint against him? }}
So now you want us to agitate a cop?
We probably will want to do things like this again over the next year (then again, why bother if our own side is going to be critical and contradictory?). Do we really want to give the cop a reason to hassle us if we don’t have to?
